Western Legacy

Western Enterprises, Inc. is a locally owned and operated corporation that began as a residential construction company, specializing in the design and building of custom homes for sale in Alaska. It was during our early stage of development that our high standards were set and our reputation for excellence was established.

Founded in 1972 by two long-time Alaskan families, the Faiks and the Powelsons, Western eventually moved into the design and the construction of commercial buildings, providing business property for rent during a period of rapid expansion. The pipeline boom in the mid to late 70's kicked off the Construction, Maintenance and Commercial Real Estate divisions of Western. By the early 80's Western had designed, built and managed around 30 income-producing buildings and was well-seasoned when the Alaska Depression of the late 80's began. A severe period of over-building followed by a collapse in the world oil prices sent the economy into a free fall. Never before had it been so important to have income property managed correctly and Western had established just such a reputation. Lending institutions became property owners and sought help from Western's property management experts, resulting in Western maintaining and managing 45 commercial buildings, many apartment buildings, and over 1,200 mobile homes for various owners such as the State of Alaska, a number of banks and the FDIC.

At present our qualified staff provides leasing, management, maintenance, construction, and accounting for Western's clients. Honesty and integrity originally formed the base of Western's foundation and today these qualities are interwoven throughout its infrastructure to everything we do.
